There are disabled parking spaces very close to the entrance. We had hired a tramper ( scooter) via Outdoor Mobility in advance and it was waiting for us at the cycle hire booth just outside the entrance to the castle. Access to the castle and grounds is by ticket but each disabled entrant gets a free carers ticket. The staff were very helpful and we were given maps of the grounds with steps marked and a map of the trails which are outside the castle grounds, but also accessible with the tramper. Inside the castle grounds the pathways are on the whole flat and easily navigable, with some steeper slopes. We made the mistake of going into the rock garden and had to do quite the manoeuvre to get out again as some of the paths were too narrow for the tramper ( no warning sign). Everywhere else’s was fine. We had lunch in the cafe, which had step free access. There were disabled toilets but I didn’t use them. After lunch we took one of the trails outside the castle along bumpy but manageable pathways to the bridge and alongside the river. It felt great to be able to go for a “walk” in the countryside
