Alright in a powerchair, a slog for a manual one

I went to Marton Station on my visit to Stewart Park, where you can find the Captain Cook Birthplace Museum and Askham Bryan College, who have a Changing Places toilet. Distance-wise the station is quite handy for the park, but you will have to deal with some inclines. There is a long ramp up to/down from the platform and the road towards Stewart Park goes uphill for a good bit. (This is because the road goes through and underpass underneath the train tracks right by the station.)

There is a touchscreen ticket machine at the bottom left of the ramp that has a button to toggle wheelchair mode, which brings the menu down to only the lower half of the screen. To get up to the platform, you need to go up a long ramp with a medium incline that turns on itself around to the left once. It has railings on either side and is mostly made from smooth tarmac. It is also lit by bright lights. There is only one platform, which has the standard tactile markings on the edge towards the rails. There is a hearing loop and a box with buttons to call for help or advice. The platform is also lit by streetlights. Overall, there are 12 seats on the platform. They are lined up like on a bench but with armrests between each seat. They have backrests, except for the ones in the open-sided shelter, which have none.

I travelled to this place by walk or wheel

There is a small car park with on Blue Badge parking space and three regular parking spaces. None of them were taken when I was there on a week day afternoon. There is no lowered curb next to the accessible parking space, so you will have to go across the car park to get up onto the footpath. There is a small dead-end turn between the car park and the ramp that could be used as a pick-up point, but again there are no lowered curbs. The 63 bus has a stop for Marton Station, but it is a bit uphill from the station on the big road. There is no pedestrian crossing close to the station and the path on the side of the station is quite narrow.

Staff

Good

This station is not staffed, but there is staff on every train that can assist you with boarding and getting off, even when you have not booked ahead with Passenger Assistance. I have found them to be generally friendly and helpful.
