Overall Rating
Excellent
I visited on a very busy day - it was a Roller Derby tournament, with teams representing England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. I only visited the big sports hall, but the venue is jam packed with lots of activities. The venue feels quite new and spacious. Loads of accessible loos available - some with showers (and also Changing Places toilet). Lockers at all heights for people to use. A soft play onsight. For the main sports hall, the track is surrounded by a wall, but the wall is perspex, so you could easily see through it to not miss any action. And plenty of bleacher seating for spectators.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
I didn't check out the facilities upstairs, but the lift looked big. The venue was nice and flat, and seemed like a lot of space to manoeuvre. There were many firedoors, and being safety fire doors, were quite heavy and you'd need a hand getting them open long enough to wheel through. The cafe looked nice and spacious, and there is a spacious soft play area too - that looks like it can be booked out for parties.
Accessible facilities: Lift to all areas, Step-free entrance, Step-free access to most areas
Parking & Transport
Excellent
I travelled to this place by bus
I took the bus and it was about a 10 minute walk to the venue from the bus stop. There were quite a few disabled parking bays right out the front of the venue, and nice level access to get inside.
Accessible facilities: Dedicated on-site parking
Accessible Toilets
Good
The venue has a lot of accessible loos, which is great. I hanged three red cord cards, and then I ran out - definitely could have hanged some more! Wherever there were regular loos there was an accessible loo right next to it, which was great to see. It was a busy day - over 100 spectators and roller derby skaters, as well as usual visitors to the venue who were there for other fitness and sports. So I am going to forgive the toilets not being as clean as possible - the janitor was very busy doing their best to keep things clean and tidy on the day. In some loos the red cords were tied up. So I untied these. I hope the venue users takes note and leave them hanging freely to the ground. I believe there is a Changing Places toilet in the venue - I didn't see this. but one of the accessible loos I did see, also had a shower and shower seat in it.
Facilities: Accessible toilet, Changing Places toilet, Changing Places toilet with shower
