NorthLink Ferries offer fast and frequent sailings to the Orkney and Shetland Islands from mainland Scotland. MV Hamnavoe is the ship that runs the Pentland Firth route, sailing up to six times a day between Scrabster, near Thurso in Caithness and Stromness in Orkney. MV Hamnavoe is the only ferry to travel to Orkney sailing past the Old Man of Hoy!
MV Hamnavoe was built with accessibility in mind. There are three decks which are used by cabins; deck 5 (reception, shop, children's play area, seating and cabins) and deck 6 (bar, restaurant, seating and Magnus' Lounge) and the car deck. All three decks are served with a lift and each deck is level. Passengers boarding with vehicles can request to park close to the lift. Passengers boarding via the walkway will find it wheelchair-friendly, with a lift leading from the ground floor to the first floor. The walkway is 100m long and provides level access to the ferry.
