Overview
A metro station was installed to allow access to Newcastle Airport when I was a child, so approx 35 years ago. It is only now that I'm disabled that I realise how poorly thought out the access is. There is no lift, and when I travelled yesterday I was passed between Nexus and the Airport with neither accepting responsibility for how I am meant to get from the metro platform to the airport. There is a long ramp from the platform to the airport, but I cannot walk that far.
Transport & Parking
Access
The metro company will provid ramps to allow entry and exit of the metro, but then you're stuck on the platform unless you manage to beg help from the Special Assistance team in the Airport.
Toilets
Nothing provided as part of the metro. So if you are stuck on the platform, which I nearly was, then you have no access to a toilet.
Staff
I called the access team, and the lady was very friendly and understanding of my upset over having to beg help from the airport, but she explained that it is not covered by Nexus.
