    Review of Northallerton Train Station

    Northallerton Train Station is easily accessible and has several facilities including a ticket office, shop, toilets and a food counter. The Train Station also has two large car parks with many disabled parking spaces. Staff are very approachable and willing to give their help to those who require it and the staff can be found all around the station.

    Several ramps have been placed around the site and platforms meaning that those who experience difficulty with stairs have an alternate option. However, at some points the ramps prove to be very steep meaning that people with walking difficulties and wheelchair users are likely to experience difficulty in climbing them to reach the platform. Electronic doors are placed at the enterances of indoor seating areas on both platforms. These doors are of a large size and are easily opened by sensors and buttons.

    Many disabled car parking spaces are available in both car parks and are situated close to the entrances of the station. The parking spaces are clearly labelled making them detectable and are of good size meaning that transfers to and from cars can be carried out safely and easily.

    One accessible toilet is on this site and proves to be of good size ensuring safe manoevres are possible. An alarm is cord is fitted meaning that if difficulty is faced an individual can call for help. The sink is at a low level, however, both the sink and hand dryer are very close to the toilet so some indivudlas may struggle to access them.

    The staff on the ticket desk are very helpful and willing to solve any problems a persion may have. The staff on the ticket desk were also very friendly and polite and willing to leave their posts to assist people onto the platforms and trains if necessary. Staff are also found on the platforms where they give information and advice about trains. In addition they help passengers to get on and off the trains.
