I love that this site, now managed by the Wildlife Trust, was reclaimed using waste from the adjacent surface mine. There are some very steep paths which should be avoided but choose your route carefully and you'll be rewarded with views of the site (world largest human form statue) and surrounding areas. Several lovely wildlife ponds on site. Visitor Centre is accessible and has disabled loo. Free admission.

Average

Site follows curves and mounds of a giant human statue so there are many undulating hills which are not really accessible. Perimeter path fully accessible (level,some loose chippings, regular benches). Venture up some of the gentle paths (some are loose chippings others grassy) round by the ponds and there are nice views. I have a power trike which managed fine apart from one little nudge from my companion. Don't be tempted to try one of the paths to the top - too steep for wheelchairs and too narrow to turn up the top. There's a photo showing me and a choice of paths going up - we took the very lowest one which gently wound its way up the side of the hill (not to the top).

Car needed. Ample space in car park. Disabled bays by entrance.

Up the ramp at the visitors centre and round the back. Wasn't the smartest but pretty good.
