The Theatre has made some simple adjustments to enable people with various disabilities / additional needs including autism to attend the pantomime. The relaxed performance means that those attending can make noise, move around, come and go from the auditorium as they wish. Staff are very understanding and knowledgeable and have had autism awareness training. The lights in the auditorium are kept on but low. They also put the performance on plasma screen in one of their rooms outside of he auditorium and provide a quiet room. It is so great to see so many people of all ages with autism / learning disability / additional needs having fun. Highly recommend. They will also welcome people with a disbality at their normal shows throughout the year.
Disabled Access In and Around
Excellent
Lift available. No steps into the Theatre entrance. Provide wheelchair spaces in auditorium. Have BSL signed performances. Produce a list of special effects and a social story for their relaxed pantomime performance so that people with a learning disabilty / autism can be prepared for their visit. Allow pre-show day visits and look around theatre. Signage is clear
Parking & Transport
0There is no onsite parking available however excellent public car parks very close by to the Theatre.
Staff
Excellent
Staff are caring, understanding, helpful and knowledgeable. They have received Autism awareness training and training on other disbilities and additional needs.
Additional Information
Would highly recommend going to Norwich Theatre Royal.
