Venue Description

O2 Academy Birmingham originally opened in the city in 2000 in Dale End with the venue bringing live music to the Midlands for almost a decade before it moved to its current home in Horsefair in 2009. Opening weekend saw home grown talent play across four days including Editors, The Twang, Mike Skinner and The Streets and Ocean Colour Scene. As well as continuing to bring audiences a spectacular line-up of live shows, O2 Academy Birmingham also remains at the heart of the city’s nightlife, with club residencies from the UK’s biggest rock ‘n’ roll party, Propaganda.

Accessibility

The accessible area is located on stage right of the balcony, which is accessed by lift from the Stalls Entrance. The area can accommodate up to 6 wheelchair users with 6 companion seats. The platform is behind 2 rows of seats and is raised to provide clear sight-lines. The bar has a lowered section available for wheelchair users. If this is closed, staff from an alternative bar will take drinks orders from the platform throughout the night. The merchandise stand is in the Stalls area which can be accessed via lift after the show.

Awards List

The venue is signed up to Attitude Is Everything's Charter of Best Practice in 2006 and hold a bronze plus certificate. More recently, the venue has become a CredAble Provider and supports the Access Card http://credability.uk.com/access-card/

There is an accessible toilet on the balcony level which is accessed by RADAR key.

Staff have attended Disability Awareness training and are happy to assist as and when required and will always strive to ensure patrons have an enjoyable and stress free experience when visiting.
