Overview
Bar 1509 is so named after the year that King Henry V111 was crowned King of England. He had many palaces built or refurbished during his reign and after he took over the Oatlands estate he built the Oatlands Palace here on the estate for his Queen. The bar is a Pleasant enough area, warm and comfortable, well looked after by bar team, but limited selection of wines and mocktails. Having arrived mid morning, we ordered a few sandwiches, which were very nice indeed, but so filling. Cheese and pickle, and egg mayo, on fresh brown bread. A treat. The disabled toilet stands right next door to the bar, as PHOTOS 4 to 10 show, with honey coloured cedar wood panels and wrought iron railing, with paintings hanging up on the walls next door. The toilet was clean enough, and handy, with just a few feet to get back to our drinks that were on the way. My wife had selected a large red Merlot from Chile, so so CHIRINGUITO COVE MERLOT. Deep dark plum, purple hues, thickish looking. 4.5 points Musty, licorice smell, slight hint of fruits. 4 points Not much taste, hotish as peppery, slight fruit, Licorice hints, very poor wine. 3.5 points Overall score. “6”. out of 10 Would not recommend. I had a very nice “Mocktails” PINA COLADA. Coconut purée, pineapple juice, double cream. Mixed quite well, good and pleasant strongish Pineapple taste, weakish cream mix Overall score. “7”. out of 10. Very nice, will try another ========================================================================= Next to bar counter, you may pick up a free newspaper to help pass a relaxing few minutes wondering what on earth is happening to our world. Throughout the reception area are a number of comfortable seating areas, where you may chose to sit instead of at the bar, And these are situated by the reception desk when you book in, were the staff looked after so well, finding us a room that would fit our needs. Now it was time for a pot of tea, and finish off that large glass of red.
Transport & Parking
Read. Our main review
Access
To reach bar seating areas was all on the level, bit difficult to find place to put the wheelchair, but there is more room around reception desk as photos will show you.
Toilets
The accessible toilet is right next door to the bar, wide enough for most chairs, large would need to check size before booking here. It was clean, big enough for chair to spin, it had pull cord and grab handles.
Staff
Bar staff were willing, helpful, and always available.
