Overview

Visited this community hall to meet up with various women’s institutes to attend the annual ‘Rural Rambles’. We had tea, coffee & home bakes then some went for a walk while others visited a local community garden (see further review). Then back to the hall for a delicious lunch of soup, savoury items & more home bakes. A lovely day out.

Transport & Parking

Large tarmac car park with lots of parking although I didn’t see any specific disabled parking bays. Generally people will leave spaces near to the entrance for this purpose.

Access

There was a ramp to the front door & in the hall was clear level floors with easy access to all areas you would need to go to

Toilets

Accessible toilet not clearly visible but the volunteers in the hall immediately point out where it is when they see people that need it, this would always be the case. Toilet is clean, well maintained with plenty of room to manoeuvre in my electric wheelchair. As will be seen in the photo the red cord does not reach to the floor, however there was none of the committee present to report this to. I will try to speak to a committee member soon regarding this.

Staff

As I said in a previous review all public halls in Shetland are run by volunteers & they are (in my experience) friendly, helpful, hospitable & eager to help however they can.
