Overview

This is a delightful very old coaching inn set in the Dalton Estate in East Yorkshire. Please note that this is only a review of the bar eating area and not the more formal restaurant or the accommodation.

Transport & Parking

We drove to the venue, I doubt if there is any public transport. There is a gravel car park opposite. This has a short steep ramp to the entrance and as I am in a wheelchair my husband had to take me down backwards. You can stop just outside the pub to drop off or pick up instead.

Access

The first entrance door has a tiny step which is OK to get over in a wheelchair then an immediate right turn into the bar area with another door. The doorways are quite tight but we managed with someone holding the doors open for us.

Toilets

There is a door at the end of the bar signed Toilets. Down a corridor which is just wide enough for the wheelchair is a good disabled toilet with a grab bar and full length mirror. Lever handle taps.

Staff

The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful, they will assist you with the doors if required.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

This is a very old building and they seem to have done their best to accommodate wheelchair users in the bar area. The food was very good but at Michelin Star prices. They have suitable tables for wheelchairs to get under without having to take the footplates off which I often have to do because of unsuitable tables. I would recommend this venue but suggest checking the menu and prices beforehand as it is in a rural location with no alternative eating places nearby.
