Level-access pottery painting venue in Arbroath high street, however no accessible toilet is available because the toilet us up about 5 steps. We attended a sip and paint event on a Friday evening where we got to take a bottle of wine to enjoy, they supplied crisps to nibble on, and we painted a piece of ceramic pottery each.

    Disabled Access In and Around

It is level-access into this venue; the entrance door is under shelter which is shared with the neighbouring shop. To enter the venue you have to manually open the door, but it is a glass door so if someone is coming in a wheelchair a staff member will be able to see. Plus, the door opens in the way so you may be able to push it open. I would recommend maybe putting a doorbell feature outside the entrance door for customers who need assistance in case staff aren’t able to see them. The downstairs area is spacious with 3 tables available, and you can see what items you can paint. The tables are at a good height for wheelchair users and all the paint and paint brushes you need to use are easy to hand. I had a carer with me to help with anything I needed, but I’m sure staff would be more than happy to help.

    Accessible facilities: Step-free entrance

    Parking & Transport

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

There is no designated parking for this venue, however there is a few on-street parking spaces right outside. This would be difficult for wheelchair users who exit from the back of there car. With this venue being situated on the Arbroath high street there are a few council car parks nearby with disabled parking space in them. Also, there are bus stops nearby where buses come from all over Arbroath, Angus in general and even from Dundee. The train station is also roughly a 5-minute walk away.

Accessible facilities: Public or on street parking

    Accessible Toilets

    Bad

There is no accessible toilet at this venue because the toilet is up around 5 steps, I therefore don’t have any photos of it and I can’t comment on it.

    Excellent

When I booked our pottery session I enquired about bringing a carer with me but only paying for me and my boyfriend. They were friendly and helpful about it, saying that was not a problem and letting me know that there wasn’t an accessible toilet. Whilst we were there both staff members who were running the event were very welcoming and helpful with explaining how the pottery process worked. They kept coming over to check we were okay during the evening and were very chatty.
