Accessible rooms available if you can get off a very low bed, or into a low bath surrounded by rails.

Disabled Access In and Around

Excellent

No steps, access up quite a steep slope. Corridors quite narrow, there is a lift, but we were on ground floor. Narrow corridors made opening and closing doors difficult if my friend was pushing my chair, she couldn't get past the chair to the door

Parking & Transport

Excellent

Dedicated disabled parking spaces near the entrance. Bus stop right at the door, literally 2 minutes off the M8 motorway

Accessible Toilets

Excellent

Accessible bathroom in the room,plenty of room for wheelchair and walking frame. However there was a bath , which although it had rails around it, was inaccessible to me

Staff

There was only one lady on duty, the place was packed on a Friday night. I had asked for a ground floor room as I had a wheelchair as the last time I had stayed at a Premier Inn the bed was far too low. When we got to the bedroom, the bed was really high, the highest bed I have ever seen! I met other clientele who also felt similar. The lady on reception swapped our room for an accessible room, without any problem. She was however so busy, that she never came back with our extra pillow

Additional Information

Premier Inn have installed new beds which are so high, that I at just just over 5 feet, would struggle to get onto even with 2 good legs. The beds in the accessible rooms are very low...17 inches. On this occasion I used a transfer board (downhill) to get into bed, but it was a struggle to get out, the gradient was too high too use transfer board to get out( bearing in mind a mattress sinks a couple inches when your sitting on it)I eventually managed to get out with assistance of my friend. Looking at their webpage it does state that they aware not everybody likes a low bed, and that they can raise it with a decent amount of notice. I had phoned the week before to advise they're accessible room beds were too low, and this option was not offered to me. Plenty of thought put into accessible room otherwise, but rooms very hot and uncomfortable, thermostat would not allow us to change room temperature. I think they are trying, they just don't have it right
