Overview

This is an art gallery in Saskatoon, in Saskatchewan, Canada. It houses some interesting pieces of art, with a big focus on the history of the area. The buildling itself is beautiful. The name of the museum/gallery is written in one of the local native languages, with the name in all the other languages displayed above a cute fireplace in the lobby. There is a gorgeous shop and restaurant (though do watch for the tendency to make you wait standing up while they faff around). They host visiting exhibitions too so there is always something interesting to see.

Access

The doors into the museum are electric, the whole area is wide and flat, with lifts to other floors. There is plenty of space everywhere.

Toilets

The downstairs loos were both accessible, one with electric doors. They are large inside but I was mystified that there were only two handbars - one behind the loo and the other on the wall by the loo and sink. I am used to seeing another which would be on your right when seated. I was not sure how someone could manage this on their own if they needed support to move from a chair or if they would need support when standing.

Staff

The staff were all great, including the volunteer receptionist/welcomer. I didn't care much for the 'hostess' in the restaurant who thought it was ok to ask us to remain standing while she set a table in an empty restaurant well into lunchtime. What with the 'wait here'? I didn't and we were able to be seated at the table while it was 'set'. All a bit unnecessary.

This is a lovely place to visit in a fascinating little city. It's lovely and warm when it is -15 outside. There are lockers for all the clothing you need to take off!
