Overview

Pink hotel of dreams. Level access building on the grounds of the Roman Camp Hotel that used to be the potting shed with an outdoor seating area too.

Transport & Parking

There is parking available on the grounds of the hotel and I would say it's less than 5 minutes away from the garden bistro. I can't 100% remember if there was designated disabled parking spaces but there was plenty of room on a Sunday lunchtime. I'm not from this area so I can't comment on the public transport but the hotel is just off of the high street of Callander so I do think there would be other ways to get here.

Access

4.5

To get to the garden bistro you have to walk/drive over some gravelled pathways. I didn't find it too difficult to drive over, some people may understand I felt I just had to keep driving straight as I was worried I'd get stuck. When we visited we sat outside to have our brunch. There are a few tables available on the level that are accessible but there are a couple that are up one step. I found the table we sat at was at a good height for me in my wheelchair and meant I enjoyed my brunch even more. I didn't go into the garden bistro as it was so nice we just sat outside but my carer went in to pay and said I'd be able to sit inside to eat. From the doorway I saw there were some tables up a step but I also saw other tables up a ramped area. We went for a walk around the grounds of the hotel and I found it fairly accessible to get around. The ground was a little gravelled but I didn't get stuck. There were a couple of area I couldn't get to though. We also had a look around the ground floor of the hotel, I was surprised I could get around, the doors were a little narrow but I got into the different rooms. There is one room of the restaurant that is down a few steps and I don't think I could stay here as I think the hotel rooms are only upstairs.

Toilets

4

I didn't go into the disabled toilet myself but my carer went in to take a photo for me. From the looks of the photo I'd say the disabled toilet looks spacious, you would only be able to transfer from the left-hand side of the toilet though. The emergency red cord was also tied up and should be hanging freely. I feel mirror would be better above the sink as no one wants to see themselves on the toilet.

Staff

The staff member that served us was friendly and helpful.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

With being outside I felt safe with COVID around. We did have a wander around the grounds of the hotel and in the main hotel but it was quite quiet so I still felt safe. There are peacocks on the grounds of the hotel that you also hear when sitting outside the garden bistro.
