I have needed to use the library for a meeting with a Lloyds bank representative who occupies a room on a Friday and also for a pain group meeting. There is a good ramp access at the front of the building but once in, some other areas are harder to navigate around. You can borrow a computer but they are hard to access in a wheelchair, being in a tight alcove. The room that the bank uses is difficult to get in and out of, in a larger powered wheelchair. The room used by the group is suitable though. I’ve never borrowed, or looked for, a book however so I can’t comment on that. I must add that Ross on Wye town centre is not especially manual wheelchair friendly, although better in a powered chair. This is due to it being on a hill and the pathway next to the library is exceptionally steep. There are few dropped kerbs, and those present are not necessarily where you need them. Many of the shops have steps to access them, due to being on a hill. I tend to not use them rather than have to get someone’s attention to find out if they have a ramp. I am always on my own so it’s too much hassle.

    Disabled Access In and Around

    I haven’t needed to access upstairs so I don’t know if there’s a lift.

Accessible facilities: Seating at regular intervals, Step-free entrance

    Parking & Transport

I travelled to this place by personal vehicle

It is rare to find any street parking unless you’re lucky. Sainsbury’s car park is close but it’s on a split level and so only suitable for cars and smaller vans. I drive a LWB van and so I park in the swimming pool car park which is behind ALDIs. There are electric parking places in Sainsbury’s or Morrisons car parks and in the swimming pool car park.

Accessible facilities: Electric vehicle charging, Public or on street parking

    Accessible Toilets

    Facilities: Accessible toilet

    Staff

The security guard was really helpful as was a member of the public but the librarian present when I was there, didn’t offer any help.
