Overview

I very much wanted to visit Rousham. Decided to be braver and try things for myself. I took my triride and have an 18inch seat width on my active wheelchair. This is relevant. I did not have my off road tyres with me. Rousham's garden design is pretty much unchanged from when it was designed centuries ago. The current owners' policy is to stringently maintain the status quo. The car park is gravel and uneven. This made it a bit difficult to connect and disconnect the tri ride. The top area of the garden is flat except for some short steep inclines (about 1:6 I think). These need to be tackled in order to see anything. My wheels did flatten the plants overflowing the path on the long borders. Some paths in the potage were too narrow, but that wasn't an issue. I decided that I wouldn't tackle the steep gradients down to the lower part of the garden, more because of the difficulty getting back up, than going down. I will try them with the right tyres. The owners are lovely, very welcoming and knowledgeable. The toilets are up a ramp then up a 6 inch step. I don't know what it's like inside.

Transport & Parking

There is a station about 3 miles away I believe. I very much doubt there's a bus. It is very rural indeed. The parking area is quite large, on a slight slope, and loosley gravelled with some cobbles as you go through the arch to pay your entrance (usually card machine).
