One of my favourite places to go bird watching and looking at wildflowers. There are mobility scooters you can borrow for free (I usually leave a donation), they can be booked in advance but I’ve always just turned up and got one. The paths are level and the 3 hides are wheelchair accessible, there are disabled parking spaces on hard standing with a ramp up to the visitor centre As well as mobility problems, I’m neurodiverse , have mental health issues and can also have complete speech loss. I often turn up there with no speech, the staff are all friendly but Julie greets me like an old friend, she completely knows the score. I turn up with no speech, borrow a mobility scooter and head off with my friend, I spend time appreciating the mobility scooter giving me independence and enjoy connecting with nature. I return to the visitor centre relaxed and with my speech back . I would highly recommend it for a day out. Blue badge holders and RSPB members park and enter for free. Non members pay £6 to park, but no more charges. Don’t forget to get something to eat in the cafe. Finally wrap up warm it can be quite blustery.
