    Shakespeare's Schoolroom & Guildhall

    About

Shakespeare’s Schoolroom & Guildhall is where William Shakespeare was inspired to become the world’s great playwright. It is not only where he spent his schooldays, but where he first experienced theatre and recent research indicates that it was in the Schoolroom that he penned his first work. The significance of this incredible chapter of history is brought to life for visitors in an immersive experience that includes the opportunity to take part in a lesson just as Shakespeare would have done 450 years ago. Visitors will also discover the importance of the Guild of the Holy Cross to civic and cultural life in medieval Stratford-upon-Avon, which is one of only a handful of towns where a timber-framed Guildhall has survived.
