    About

St. James' Park is the oldest football stadium in the North East, with football having first played on the turf as early as 1880. It became the home of Newcastle United in 1892 and its development has since been one of much intrigue, debate and excitement. St James’ Park has, and always will, be a talking point of the region. The modern home of the Magpies is a towering structure that, with its white cantilever roof and dominating support beams, is visible across the city. Housing 52,404 supporters, it is the sixth largest football stadium in the United Kingdom. On matchdays the stadium it is a hive of activity as fans flock to support the team as it competes in the English Premier League. However, St. James' Park has also been used for international football, as a football venue for the 2012 Olympics, as a venue for the 2015 Rugby World Cup and as a venue for Rugby League’s Magic Weekend in 2015. It has also hosted music concerts and been used as a set for film and reality TV

First Newcastle Falcons game at Newcastle Uniteds ground. Friendly helpful stewarding, easy to move around the concourse, overall a good experience.

    Views, atmosphere and comfort

Rugby World Cup 2015, had the privilege of attending the stadium twice for Scotland Group Games. Access to the Gallowgate and Leazes End by lift, well stewarded - stewards in attendance on the stadium periphery to guide you through the crowds, and then to and from the appropriate lift to your seat in the stadium. Recommended is to seek a wheelchair space in the Leazes End - 7th floor, stunning views across to Gateshead with a view of the action you can't match at pitch side. Once inside, the atmosphere generated is electric. The thing I liked most was that often attending sports stadia, you find the wheelchair spaces to be designated away from the rest of the supporters. Here, you can be very much feel part of the crowd, at the heart of the atmosphere, thanks to the cleverly thought out wheelchair space plan.
