Overview

Rugby World Cup 2015, had the privilege of attending the stadium twice for Scotland Group Games. Access to the Gallowgate and Leazes End by lift, well stewarded - stewards in attendance on the stadium periphery to guide you through the crowds, and then to and from the appropriate lift to your seat in the stadium. Recommended is to seek a wheelchair space in the Leazes End - 7th floor, stunning views across to Gateshead with a view of the action you can't match at pitch side. Once inside, the atmosphere generated is electric. The thing I liked most was that often attending sports stadia, you find the wheelchair spaces to be designated away from the rest of the supporters. Here, you can be very much feel part of the crowd, at the heart of the atmosphere, thanks to the cleverly thought out wheelchair space plan.

Transport & Parking

4.5

Although we hadn't acquired a stadium wheelchair space, we were able to find suitable parking in close proximity to the stadium thanks to the stadium's city centre location.

Stewards readily available to guide you to the ample number of well attended-to disabled loo's. Having your own Radar Key is handy but stewards in attendance will guide you to the nearest kiosk should you need to borrow a key.

Friendly, welcoming and in sync with your needs.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I haven't been to any other stadium in England, and it being a rugby international fixture I attended, it may be a slightly different experience on a regular football match day. However, the experience compares favourably to any (rugby or football) match I have attended for atmosphere, location, sense of occassion as well as the staffing and seating arrangements. I would recommend a visit and it would be a genuine thrill if I had the chance to attend again.
