New Cumbernauld Accessible Venue, Submarine Venue and Nightclub

I have experience of challenges around: a hidden impairment, moving around, seeing and understanding.

So last night I went to The Submarine Venue and Night Club in Cumbernauld to see the ‘Anything Goes’ Showcase’ As many might not be aware that the venue has wheelchair access and facilities. I was greeted at the door by a lovely lady who radioed The manger to take me down in the lift. Which is accessed by a ramp at side of the venue across from the chip shop. The lift took us down to the club where I was greeted by another member of staff and shown the accessible toilet , bar and wheelchair viewing point. The ramp was a little steep to go up so the staff offered to push me up which helped greatly, power chair users or those with carers accompanying would be able to manage alone. A few times during my time there the staff checked on me to see if I needed anything. I found the accessible toilet to be very roomy easy to manoeuvre my chair in. Grab rails and low height sink, at the moment you require the staff to unlock it but I have been informed they shall be installing a radar key lock 👍 When I was ready to leave a staff member took me back up in the lift to exit. I will certainly be returning couldn’t ask for more in terms of accessibility and staff attention to detail. Disabled Access In and Around

Excellent

At the venue door I asked a member of staff to use the accessible lift access to enter the venue, A member of staff accompanied me to the lift which is round the corner from the venue via an external ramp into a foyer with direct access down into the venue.

Parking & Transport

Excellent

Disabled parking outside of venue in town centre car park, it has level access straight to the venue only a short walk or roll away.

Accessible Toilets

Excellent

The accessible toilet is on the same level as the main club and is accessed via a key that staff let you use to gain access but have been informed by staff they shall be installing a radar key lock in the near future, toilet has pull down grab rails and other grab rail points as well as a low height sink.

Staff

Excellent

The staff were extremely helpful from assisting with access to venue and facilities but as I was there alone they frequently popped by the viewing area to see if I needed anything, and the other patrons in the place were also friendly and welcoming should I need anything from the bar.

I've heard of this place/been past many times and always just assumed I can't get in.. I'll definitely look out for gig tickets in the future thanks to your review !
