Excellent

Wheelchair and walking stick friendly venue, with exceptionally helpful and cheery staff. This event was a wine and menu tasting; tables were generally well set out, staff accompanied guests to their seats and arranged for guests to be introduced to each other. Those looking after our table were alert to concerns re use of cutlery or glassware, in a positive but unobtrusive way!

Disabled Access In and Around

Good

The main access uses a couple of steps with handrails, but all flat wheelchair access is via the bar. I'm afraid I didn't look for any signs as our party already knew where we were going. I haven't used the upstairs function room, so I'm not aware of a lift is available

Parking & Transport

Excellent

Disabled parking available, wheelchair access via the ale house entrance. The staff at the venue are happy to organise an appropriate taxi home if necessary

Accessible Toilets

Excellent

The loo is easily accessible, clearly signposted and beautifully appointed, with mirrors at appropriate heights and sturdy handrails. The emergency pull reaches just above the floor. Everything is very clean and 'grown-up' - what a joy!

Staff

Excellent

Everyone was very helpful, from the girl who greeted us initially, to the folks who showed us to our seats and the girl who thoughtfully stowed my sticks until I needed them. (The offer of a lift up the road at the end of the evening was unexpected but very welcome)

Additional Information

The food and wine during this taster experience was fabulous and the whole thing was reasonably priced. A very warm and friendly ambience was evident throughout the restaurant and bar and from all the team

Upstairs function rooms are used for post-funeral gatherings, comic/music events etc. Access is via a curved flight of about 15 stairs. No lift. No toilet facilities upstairs.
