Overview
We'd intended this place as a destination for an afternoon coffee on a drive round the Cowal Peninsula and were very glad we did. When we arrived, we were offered the choice of sitting inside or out. We opted for outside with no hesitation. The area is covered and the view is incredible. We just ordered drinks and cake. The tea, coconut latte and dark hot chocolate were all lovely. The chocolate cake, which I think was actually vegan, and the Empire biscuit were both delicious. Based on this afternoon coffee visit, I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this café. I'd love to revisit and maybe try a proper meal next time.
Transport & Parking
The single track road into Lochgoilhead and then further round the loch, like every other in the country, can be a bit hairy when other drivers don't, or won't, use them properly but the views are worth it. I was able to be dropped off at the café door then my companion went to park, so apologies... I'm not sure if there are designated disabled spaces, nor if the surfacing is suitable for wheelchairs.
Access
There is a very slight ramp into the café. There is plenty room both inside and on the outside terrace to manoeuvre my manual wheelchair, although anything larger would have difficulty. All chairs are movable and staff were quick to help make room.
Toilets
There is an accessible toilet just outside, next to the main door. I had to get the key from the staff. They had literally just finished renovating it the day before and it was spotless. Plenty manoeuvring room and the standard grab rail set-up.
Staff
All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Big thanks to the chef who offered to come out and help me with my wheelchair... the offer was much appreciated!
