The Bo'ness & Kinneil Railway

I am a carer or friend of a disabled person. I have experience of challenges around: dexterity or coordination and seeing.

Overall Rating

Ramped access onto Bo'ness station and easy access onto the trains. there was plenty of space on the coaches. On the day itself there were understandably a lot of visitors, so perhaps not the best time for a railway enthusiast to visit!

Disabled Access In and Around

As with a lot of steam railways the stations and trains are spacious and fully accessible - ramps are available to assist wheelchair users onto the trains if needed.

Parking & Transport

There is a car park at the station with plenty of space. Be warned - Bo'ness is quite a hilly place and the road we took that lead to the station from the bus stop was extremely steep. If you're thinking of travelling to the Bo'ness end of the railway via public transport, before visiting I'd recommend researching local buses/taxi firms if you're a wheelchar user, or would struggle with steep inclines.

Super helpful and friendly on what was likely a very demanding day for them!

Additional Information

There is a lovely little model railway inside a refurbished coach - there are ramps to and from this great little feature, though inside it's very narrow.
