Overview
An excellent place for wheelchair users, easy to get around, plenty of lifts, and an excellent accessible toilet.
Transport & Parking
King's Cross St Pancras is the nearest tube station and is fully step free from street to train for all tube lines. Many buses serve the area immediately around the British Library.
Access
There are two step-free routes to the main entrance. If you stand in Euston Road facing the library, there is a step-free route on your right-hand side (nearest Midland Road), and there is a step-free route on your left-hand side just round the corner in Ossulston Street. From these two entrance points there are step-free routes through the courtyards to the main entrance. There is a set of automatic doors at the main entrance. There are numerous lifts throughout the library. Beware: not all lifts go to all floors, but all floors can be reached by at least one lift.
Toilets
I used an absolutely superb and spacious accessible toilet, see my photos below. Top marks for this toilet, and there was even a card on the red emergency cord telling people that it must be left to hang free. The toilet door is automatic: just press a button and it opens. Locking it is achieved by pressing another button once you're inside. One of the best accessible toilets I've ever used.
Staff
All the staff I encountered were friendly, helpful and charming.
