Overview
Very friendly, helpful staff
Transport & Parking
There is a small car park opposite the venue. It was very busy but we managed to get a space when someone left. You have to cross a busy road to access the pub or walk up a bit to a pedestrian crossing. It’s on a main road with buses and trains nearby. I didn’t use them though so can’t comment on how frequent etc
Access
The blurb says it is wheelchair accessible. I was using a stick and am very unstable. I found the front door quite tight and heavy. Not sure how easy that would be for a wheelchair user. That said, the staff were brilliant so I’m sure a quick call and they’d definitely assist. The pub is on the level but the restaurant is up a few stairs.
Toilets
There was an accessible toilet in the pub area but it was difficult to reach as there were many tables tightly packed. I struggled to get to the loo and had to steady myself on people’s tables. Despite the fact it was clearly signposted as an accessible toilet, and a sign reminded people that not every disability is visible, it did seem to be used by many people just as a convenience as the main toilets are at the opposite side of the building up some stairs. This meant there was often a queue. The toilet did have a radar lock but it was unlocked and only used a sliding latch. The toilet was also used as a store for baby high chairs. Wasn’t really a problem as I went at night but could maybe be an issue at other times. Otherwise reasonably clean and good supply of toilet paper and soap. Fast hand driers. The toilet is also used as a baby change.
Staff
All staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Helped carry drinks and found us a table despite booking last minute.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
The pub had a lovely atmosphere and I would definitely return. Lovely beer garden which was perfect on a warm sunny day. The restaurant was difficult for me to reach. Not sure how a wheelchair user would access but I’d suggest a chat with staff. They were definitely ok with you eating outside or in the bar. The bar had a great vibe and table service was great with attentive staff. I was grateful for the accessible toilet but it was a bit tricky in terms of ease of reaching and how busy it got. My suggestion would be to get the radar lock fixed and have a key available? I would go back as I liked everything else but I would be sure to plan toilet trips by keeping an eye on queues etc. Definitely worth a visit 👍
