Overview
I've been enchanted by Corran since a family holiday in 1980! The area boasts some of the most stunning scenery in the country and is just so peaceful. It truly holds a special place in my heart. The Ceilidh House amenity was built a few years ago now and is a great place to stop. The toilets are spotless, and the main hall has seats and tables for a quick respite. It offers campervans overnight stays too. The historical information boards are interesting and tell a rich history of the local area, including the infamous Clearances. One in particular which lists the names of local people who emigrated on the Liscard in 1849 is fascinating. If I have one tiny criticism, it would be to have some sort of online donating facility, perhaps via a QR code. We found ourselves with very little coinage and would have happily donated more than we could at the time. Being able to make an electronic donation would have been better, and I imagine motorhome owners who want to stay overnight would definitely appreciate this. There are occasional events on such as concerts and cèilidhs and, I've just discovered since visiting, coffee and cake during the high season. This is an unnecessary but really appreciated amenity for the local community and visitors alike, and I can think of many village halls that could learn a lot from the efforts of Corran and Arnisdale.
Transport & Parking
A surprisingly large car park has two disabled spaces right next to the entrance.
Access
The building is fully wheelchair accessible. There is a short ramp on a great incline which is easy for self-propelling.
Toilets
The disabled toilet is spacious enough for easy manoeuvring and has the standard set-up of grab rails. It was spotlessly clean, as were the non-disabled toilets.
Staff
The place was unstaffed on our visit, although presumably someone is there daily for coffee and cleaning and when there is an event on.
