Overview

The Cosy Club is brand new to Norwich and has been opened in the old NatWest bank on London Street. An old building in Norwich being accessible? Surely not? But yes, it's true! There is a ramp that curls round the outside of the building, though it's slightly on the steep side, but I was able to push myself up it in my manual wheelchair. Once inside the building, everything's on one level so that was another major plus. The place has been painstakingly restored with lots of dark wood panelling, 1930s style lighting and beautiful comfy sofas dotted about. It's also surprisingly large inside, so lots of room to move around. The one thing that was slightly less accessible is the bar - there's no lowered section and the bar is really high, so some may find it difficult to reach up to get a drink. However, the staff were very good and will help whenever needed. The food itself was amazing - exciting menu, executed very well. There's also a vegan and gluten free menu, so they have most bases covered. Courteous, attentive waiting staff who also looked the part. I felt taken care of without feeling patronised which made a nice change! The accessible toilet was rather good too - had all the usual things a disabled toilet requires, and even matched the decor of the restaurant. The toilet rail was a little wobbly though despite being brand new (why are they always like this?!) and the mirror a bit too high, but all in all it did the job. I would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone!

Transport & Parking

Being in the city centre, there's no parking near the restaurant - the venue is in a pedestrianised area. However, there are a few blue badge spaces outside Jarrolds on London street but it's pot luck whether you get one. Best bet is to park in castle mall shopping centre, as I did. Alternatively, it's not far from the taxi rank at Guildhall, and only a little further away from both Tombland and Castle Meadow bus stops.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I would definitely visit again - so nice to not have to battle with furniture, tight spaces and ignorant staff.
