The Galleries Shopping centre is the heart of Washington, conveniently located just off the A1 and A19. Offering household names such as Sainsbury’s, ASDA, M&S, H&M, Next, Costa, Argos and Wilkinsons as well as bowling, bingo and a new leisure centre, there’s no reason to shop around. With an in-house free shop mobility scheme and over 3000 free car parking spaces, including conveniently located accessibility spaces, shopping with us has never been easier.

Disabled Access Information Provided by The Galleries Shopping Centre

Disabled Access at The Galleries Shopping Centre

All of our entrances have a level or ramped/sloped access with automatic doors wide enough to cater for a mobility scooter. The entrance by Sainsbury’s is the most level access point. We have a standard passenger lift which provides access to the centre from the Bus Station – you would remain in your chair to use this lift.

We have several public car parks on site that have a maximum of a 4 hour stay. Each entrance has disabled car parking spaces provided. All car parks are wheelchair accessible.

Toilets features at The Galleries Shopping Centre

Our Changing Places and Disabled toilets are based on the upper level of the shopping centre, they can be accessed by the public passenger lift situated in the centre or the ramp situated by the Martin’s/Bus Station entrance. The toilets are step free and wide enough to accommodate a mobility scooter. The Changing Places toilet includes a hoist, changing bed, handrails, privacy screen, toilet, sink and is very spacious allowing room for manoeuvring. A radar key is required to access the toilets however if you do not own a personal key, members of our team carry them to enable access to members

There is a Changing Places toilet, which includes an adult-size changing bench, toilet, sink and hoist.

Accessible toilet

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
