Excellent
Visited the new exhibition gallery for the afternoon. Warmly welcomed by the staff and very impressed by the light and airy feel of the building and by its spaciousness. Could comfortably follow the exhibit in order and at our own pace without being impacted by other visitors and with staff on hand to assist if necessary. Was particularly impressed by the quality of natural lighting which lets you see the real intricacy and detail of the work. Excellent cafe (custard slice highly recommended) and shop seemed to have a good range of souveniers. All in all I wonderful permanent home for the Great Tapestry.
Excellent
Flat access from street and lift between two floors. Ample space to manoeuvre wheelchair and to see all of exhibition. All information cards were at a low level and readable by wheelchair user. Possible to download app as guide to panels. I believe that a power chair is available in the gallery but potential users would require to check this.
Excellent
In town centre so lots of parking options. One disabled space at gallery but 'Blue Badge' options would allow on street parking close by as well as other town centre car parks. Train links to Gala from Edinburgh and it is a principal transport hub in the Borders. Don't think there are significant issues walking around town centre and gallery is at one end of pedestrianised high street.
Excellent
Two large, clean and well lit accessible toilets with lots of space for carer.
Excellent
All staff were friendly and approachable and really seemed to enjoy their work and meeting visitors
