This very beautiful and picturesque loch was just a twenty-minute drive from where my friend and I stayed in Callander. Trossachs Pier has a cafe (with lift access), gift shop (with level access), toilets (including an all-abilities toilet located in the cafe), and a booking office (with level access) where you can book scenic boat cruises on the loch. We planned to go on a boat cruise, but unfortunately, Loch Katrine’s only wheelchair-accessible boat (also with an all-abilities toilet), the Steamship Sir Walter Scott, was out of service due to being under restoration. We knew this before visiting but wanted to take in the scenery anyway. We made the most of our visit to the loch by going on a nice scenic stroll along the North Shore Road. Before heading off on our stroll, we came across a map that showed something very special three miles from Trossachs Pier - Brenachoile Point (where a scene from Outlander was filmed). Exciting! We decided to head there! Brenachoile Point is where Brianna and Roger had a picnic in Outlander. It’s not very accessible once you reach it, but I think it was worth it. We saw a lot of beautiful scenery, heard some wildlife and encountered some very friendly people along the way. We also passed Glen Finglas Falls. This was very pretty, and I loved the sound of the water there.
Disabled Access In and Around

We went into the gift shop with level access and plenty of space to manoeuvre a wheelchair. The North Shore Road - a private road that has very little vehicular traffic - is fully accessible. Some parts of the road looked a little bit steep, but I managed to navigate it in my powered wheelchair without any problems.
Parking & Transport
Excellent
We drove to the loch and found that the car park was fully accessible and had four disabled parking spaces directly outside the booking office – this is where we parked.
Additional Information
When we finally reached Brenachoile Point, we realised that I would have to navigate a steep grass hill to get to it. But I went for it… very slowly and steadily. It was so scary – my heart was in my mouth! If you’re using a manual wheelchair, you probably won’t make it back up the hill again – it was so steep! Once we had made it down there, we were right beside the water’s edge, and the views were amazing! I think it was worth being scared to see the beautiful scenery.
