Overview

We had a wonderful stay in this fantastic Michelin starred Hotel & Restaurant. It’s gorgeous and peaceful with beautiful views and outstanding food! It was a special occasion and we wanted everything to be perfect so spoke to the hotel before booking to ensure our access needs would be catered for. When we explained our requirements they recommended an accessible suite close to the main hotel with step free access into the restaurant and bar area by the open fire. We were also offered lifts in their buggy if we wanted it. The room was fabulous. The two kingsized beds were quite high -which suited us - but you can ask for lower bedsteads. There was a wet room which included a toilet with grab rails. We parked our car close to the room. We recommend speaking to the hotel before booking to discuss your needs as not every room will be as accessible. But they are very proactive and want you to have a great experience. NB there is a step up to the front entrance but the side entrance is step free.

Transport & Parking

We parked right outside our room. There is also parking in front of the main building overlooking the fields, but this is on gravel. The hotel has golf buggies if you need a lift around the grounds.

Access

There is a step at the front door and I didn’t ask if they have a ramp - but they might do. However we used the step free side entrance into the hotel, restaurant and bar area. Some of the rooms have step free access but are quite a distance from the main hotel. A couple of other rooms are close to the hotel and step free, but the path is steep. We stayed in the Schiehallion Stable Suite which had a gentle slope and was close to the main hotel.

Toilets

We used our room as it was close to the main area. It was in a large wet room and had space for a PA to assist. There were grab rails. I can’t remember if there was an accessible toilet in the main hotel.

Staff

Everyone was wonderful and couldn’t do enough to make sure we had a great time.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

Please talk to the hotel before going to ensure you get the room / experience you need and want. For example, there was a rug in our room and a door mat outside which could pose a trip hazard, but you can ask the staff to remove if you feel this is an issue. We will definitely go again!
