Overview
If you are not familiar with the Pig the first thing you need to know is that this group of hotels are affectionately referred to as Piglets by many of their staff, they pride themselves on delivering premium luxury experiences in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Wear whatever you want to dinner, the staff look impeccable in blue jeans casual shirts or even polo's over sneakers! Nothing is too much effort for this thoughtful bunch and they pride themselves on their sustainability efforts and low food miles. The experience is memorable and I left feeling spoilt and very impressed with their new Accessible Superking Size suite.
Transport & Parking
https://www.thepighotel.com/near-bath/ Driving is the only option to get to The Pig near Bath because it sits in a 30 acre deer park. Guests can be dropped off at the Entrance and I mean literally on the door step and then there is gravel carpark around to the rear of the building with two designated disabled parking spaces. The gravel has non migratory matting and my manual RGK chair wheeled over it very well. I have taken a video of the route from the front entrance by wheelchair to the carpark.
Access
The building is beautifully old and I would not change a thing but with that character comes uneven floors, riven paving and large pieces of furniture but I self propelled throughout the groundfloor, the gardens/patios and with my Triride I even managed 90% of the kitchen garden!
Toilets
The accessible WC is centrally located but I never used it during our short stay but obviously our room was only short push away. I'll ask the hotel to send me some photo's retrospectively.
Staff
Nothing was too much effort and both the Manager and Assistant Manager introduced themselves to me and were genuinely thrilled to hear that their new accessible room worked so well for me. They were also very keen to hear on any improvements that I thought could be made to improve the experience.
