Overview

From the moment we arrived in the hotel we were treated like royalty! Parking was a minor issue as the hotel is on the main road, however they do have a carpark at the rear with a disabled bay. It's around a 30m walk up a ramped walkway to the front door. The front door had a push button to open, but a staff member having their break jumped up to open the door before I could push it. Inside there was a small flight of steps to get to the reception desk, but to the left they had a platform lift. It needs opened and operated by staff who had seen me coming and were there in moments without me asking. I found the reception desk a little high, but the receptionist came round to speak to me (& offer me a sparkling wine) & explain where my room was etc. I was on the 2nd floor, lifts were just a few meters from the reception area. Once on the floor my room was around 10m from the lift. As past experiences of opening room doors from my wheelchair have been awkward my dad came with me. He wasn't needed though, they had automatic door openers. I just had to tap the card on the receiver and the door opened for me. Inside there was a large button pad to close it again - I was in awe! Eagerly I explored the room, it was a lovely. Automated curtains, large wet room with wall mounted seat in the shower area & plenty of handrails. The bed was a little high for me but was very comfy. Also found if I was in my wheelchair I couldn't reach the kettle or glasses. I have noticed in Canada that there is no standard height for toilets, they tend to be very low. The one in this room was better than most but I had anticipated this and brought my own raise seat which was definitely needed for me. There was lovely touches such as a Dyson hairdryer, lots of nice teas, a coffee press, a Bodum kettle and even some homemade chocolate cookies. They had even put a smaller dressing gown in for me as the adult sized was too big. Every time I wanted to leave the hotel the staff seemed to anticipate this and just appear to operate the lift. Definitely somewhere I'd stay again.
