Overview
Not a bad little place, it was clean, lots of tables, food was ok, and the price was good. Thomas Botfield was a local industrialist, who built the Old Park ironworks fuelled by coal from collieries near by.He built houses for his workers, which was all part of the then Malins Lee estate. There’s a nice historical report worth reading on the internet, so while waiting for your order to arrive, type in. Thomas Botfield, and www.jdwetherspoons.com will come up, click second article for this historical notes.
Transport & Parking
It’s a bit of a push from car park to the pub, fairly level though, but paying for parking ticket was an effort, you have to use machines outside shops, £1.60 on our visit, but then it took ages to go this way then that way, disappointing.
Access
From car park space to pub was quite a distance, you have to go bends and corners to get to pub. Then it was ok, on the level inside pub, and quite easy to find somewhere to place your wheelchair.
Toilets
Not to bad, it’s clean and tidy, push cord and grab rails, just about enough room to get chair in, although we left it outside close by.
Staff
Slow coming to help, but friendly enough, had to go to counter to order though.
