Overview
Award winning wheelchair accessible tea rooms with friendly helpful staff. Has a range of hot dishes, sandwiches, cakes and ice creams including gluten free dishes and bread, and jam suitable for diabetics so you can still have a cream tea. See National Trust website for opening hours and season which is longer in Cornwall than elsewhere. Inside and outside tables. Very obliging and friendly staff who will provide extra facilities, e.g. I have to have a chair with arms. Can be crowded but possible to book.
Transport & Parking
Disabled parking bays near to tea room. Car park gets very full so may have to drop the disabled person off and park in another part of it. On bus route from Penzance.
Access
Ramped access from car park. Car park is gravelled.
Toilets
Loo next to other loos at end of tearoom. Brilliantly set up with grab rails and low access basin. Approached via a lobby with room to turn wheelchair and I reckon there is room for a second person although didn't need that. Very clean.
Staff
I happen to know the manageress who was extremely helpful and had a light chair from the outside terrace brought into the restaurant as I must have a chair with arms. The other staff were also very obliging, particularly given that it was very crowded.
Anything else you wish to tell us?
Highly recommended. A sealed footpath leads from the car park to the garden. The garden has a guide showing accessible footpaths. Wheelchairs to borrow from the NT. Garden suitable for power chairs and mobility scooters. The garden is on a slight (by Cornish standards) hill. Garden best in spring as it is full of camellias and magnolias but also good from July on because of the hydrangeas.
