Tropical World at Roundhay Park is one of the most well-loved family attractions in Leeds and only three miles from the city centre. At Tropical World you can take a trek through the rainforest and experience tropical wildlife at night before a quick excursion through the desert all in the same morning!??

Tropical World, Leeds

Tropical world is located near multiple bus stops and car parks due to it's proximity to Roundhay park. The route around the venue is fully wheelchair accessible, albeit slightly steep or narrow in a couple or places. All exhibits can be viewed from a seated position. An accessible bathroom is available in the cafe by the entrance. Staff are friendly, and a carers discount ticket is available.

Really lovely visit

Tropical World is a really fun and interesting place to visit, I chose to go because it's level access because my friend is in a wheelchair. Make a day of it and go to Roundhay Park and do what we did and get some scrumptious food at the Roundhay Fox, also level access (you may need to book ahead there are popular!). There is also a cafe at Tropical World and I noticed a man in a power chair in there.

Disabled Access at Tropical World

There is a ramp located near the entrance to Tropical World and both the entrance and exit doors are power assisted & open automatically, when approached. There is level access around the building, with a slight slope in the Australasian House.

Accessible parking at Tropical World

There is a disabled car parking bay located on Princes Avenue, about 5 metres from the entrance to Tropical World. Further bays are available on Mansion Lane

Toilets features at Tropical World

All accessible toilets are step-free access and the door widths can accommodate both manual and powered wheelchairs. There are grab rails and easy turn locks and taps within the cubicles.

A designated accessible toilet designed for wheelchair users and others with visible and non-visible accessibility requirements is available within the main public areas.
