Overview

I go to The Village every time I visit Glasgow now, it is ideal for gigs at the SSE Hydro. I haven’t actually stayed in the hotel but I would definitely choose it if I were to stay in Glasgow. It had fantastic accessibility, helpful and friendly staff, and great food.

Transport & Parking

5

There are 15 clearly marked disabled parking bays at the front entrance, each has lines to the side and front. There are signs up to show these areas. The website says it is close to train stations and bus stops

Access

4.5

There are various spaces for eating and drinking, a Starbucks, a seating area where you can still order food from the bar and eat in. The seats are tables are very low here though so not ideal. In the bar I am able to negotiate my way around without much difficulty, the tables are a good height but this area is always very busy as its a pre-event venue and a sports bar. The bar food is the best and most affordable, luckily this can be ordered in the restaurant. I prefer to book and get a table in the restaurant as it’s table service and there’s more space. Getting through the venue is easy as it’s a wide space with smooth, even flooring

Toilets

4

There is an accessible toilet in the foyer which is easy to get in and out off. It is quite long, there is space to turn, there’s a call button and red cord. There are grab rails and its always clean and tidy

Staff

4.5

The staff here are so helpful and friendly. The make you feel relaxed and welcome, are polite and seem to work well together

Anything else you wish to tell us?

I love The Village and would definitely recommend it. On my last visit, the fire alarm went off. There was a fire exit just a few feet away which was opened and staff calmly and politely led customers out. Straight away a team of staff had yellow vests on and had everyone next to the bike shed in the car park. I was impressed by their efficiency, and that they were all still kind and helpful. The fire brigade were there in minutes. It’s reassuring to see a safe evacuation like this, especially as a wheelchair user.
