Disabled parking
Visit date:
This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Hearing Aid, Walking Aid, Wheelchair, Hidden Impairment, Speech Impairment, Learning Disability
Overview
Food is very good and switched on about food issues. Disabled toilet awkward to access as tight turns through 2 doors. Disabled parking is really non existent. There are orange badge signs (scheme finished 2010) but no markings and surface is gravel which is not allowed. Enforcement is limited to non existent. Checked parking 2024 no change.
Transport & Parking
There are signs for disabled parking near the entrance but gravelled surface and no proper signs or markings. Unclear how many disabled spaces as no markings but insufficient. Tight turns into spaces Would be hard in a larger vehicle, we have Renault Arkana SUV
Access
Ramp access via main entrance with gravelled surface around, narrow concrete/tarmac path from 2 gravelled parking spaces. No lift access to upper floors. Most of ground floor is accessible but often had to get diners to move out the way for a wheelchair. Narrow doorways. This is a listed building so little scope for change. No alternative signage or braille signage. Not aware of inductive loop. No additional seating other than at tables. There are two cottages that might be accessible (not investigated)
Toilets
Disabled toilet awkward to access as at back of room and requires tight turns through 2 close doors.often need to get other customers to move to get access. Might be tight or impossible with a larger electric chair Grab rails are present, there is space for a carer. Shared with baby changing. Not changing places.
Staff
Most of staff were great and very helpful. On our last visit they were unwilling to do anything to assist with access to disabled parking (several cars with no blue badges). New ownership since 2015? but nothing done to make parking compliant with regulations.
