Reimagining Beauty Through Life Drawing

Reimagining Beauty Through Life Drawing article image

Inspired by ‘The Cult of Beauty’ exhibition, this workshop will interrogate ideas about subversive beauty through life drawing. You will consider different aspects of beauty, including racialised beauty, gender identity and the cost of beauty.

You’ll be able to draw from life with models from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds in poses inspired by the exhibition, such as iconic beauty images from Vogue and reflections on selfie culture. The models will wear a variety of clothing that shows and enhances their bodies. Whether you already love to draw or would just like to try something new, the workshop is open to all levels.

All art materials will be provided, and there will be regular breaks throughout the workshop, with a longer break for lunch. Lunch is not included, but we will be providing snacks and drinks.

This is a relaxed event with a chill-out space with ear defenders and fidget toys available.

This event is designed for 14- to 19-year-olds and disabled young people aged 14–25 years. We may ask your age at the venue to make sure you’re the right age for our youth programme events.
