Overview

Not suitable for wheelchairs. Nearly everything was not accessible for wheelchairs due to uneven muddy grass.

Transport & Parking

0.5

Parking was provided in a makeshift farmers yard which was hard standing, but had no markings. Members of staff had no comprehension of what space wheelchair users need, and ended up blocking vehicles from both wheelchair access, as well as blocking the ability of cars to get out of the car park. For our visit, it required announcements to the whole arena to get drivers back to vehicles to move them so that customers could leave! The venue is in a field along a countryside lane that has no pavements, and is 0.5 miles from the nearest main road. Buses in the area are infrequent, on Saturdays there is a bus at 10am, 2pm and 4pm. On Sundays, four buses operate at 11am, 1pm, 4pm and 6pm but are accessible for a single wheelchair.

Access

0.5

The venue is in fields that have not been treated for wheelchairs, making it very difficult to maneuver. Seating is by way of straw bales along the arena.

Toilets

0.5

There were three toilets marked on the map, for the toilet nearest the arena, they were mobile toilets with no disabled provision. It was impossible to maneuver a wheelchair to other two toilet blocks to see if they were accessible.

Staff

0.5

Staff only had information surrounding the immediate task they were performing with no information about the rest of the venue. As one member of staff put it "I only know in that direction which I saw as I walked here, and know nothing of what's in that direction". Another member of staff tried talking to us in Welsh, and when we advised we could not speak Welsh walked off leaving someone else to pick up the issue. At the booth for Horse and Hawk, the attendant was engaged with the children, but as soon as a disabled person went up, they turned away. When the disabled person left, the attendant returned to talk to children again, when a different disabled person in a wheelchair went up, the horse was taken away leaving the wheelchair user unable to engage.

Not recommended at all.
