Overview

I spent a weekend here, just me and my assistance dog. It was surprisingly peaceful, given that it's not far from a main road, and the walks from the site were fantastic and easy enough for me to manage alone. The site itself has excellent facilities with an accessible shower room and I found it easy to get around and do everything I wanted to do.

Transport & Parking

I travelled by motorhome and found it fairly easy to get to, though I had no SatNav, so I had rehearsed the journey well. It is well signposted to the Tees Barrage and the site is close to there. On arrival, I didn't even need to get out of my van. It was busy and staff came to my driver's window and checked me in from there. As with all club sites, you can choose where you pitch. I managed to find a pitch and got parked up but then realised the electric hook up was too far away and had to use my long, heavy cable, which is tricky for me on my own. So if that matters, remember to look where the electric bollards are.

Access

Everywhere was accessible that I wanted to get to. The facilities blocks are excellent! There are service points around the site and they were all easy to get into for bins, etc. The dog walk on site is off-road and looked rather overgrown to me, so I gave that a miss. It wasn't a problem though, as there are loads of nice walks, directly from the site. The Tees Barrage white water park has paths going all around it. The bridges are all nice and wide. There are some hills, but not too steep apart from one of the paths down. I took the longer more gradual route past the Beefeater Restaurant. I particularly enjoyed the circular walk along the river path to Infinity Bridge and then back through the university gardens. The paths were plenty wide enough and well surfaced.

Toilets

The toilet and shower facilities are excellent and very clean. You need a RADAR key to get in. I need plenty of space so that my assistance dog can help me with dressing and showering. The club facilities are always well laid out and plenty big enough for her to do her tasks, and this was no exception.

Staff

The staff were fantastic! They were all helpful the whole time but one chap was particularly helpful on my final morning. It was pouring down and I had to wind up and carry the long electric cable. He came and got soaked to help me, so that I didn't get too wet and then have to drive home in wet clothes. He was so kind and willing to help.

One of the paths through the white water park, with good tarmac surface and a slight gradient. Path to the campsite entrance, with good surface and plenty of space. View of white water park with paths going around it. Path through the university gardens. Path alongside the River Tees, lovely and wide with good surface. Infinity Bridge with good surface and nice and wide.
