Overview
English Heritage run site comprise of parkland extensive gardens and lake with the most fantastic example of a 19th century palatial country Manor House, be it the ruins , sadly. Ok Staff were absolutely wonderful, helpful and informative. They were very good about making sure we knew the best way to go with the wheelchair and which way to avoid. The ruins themselves I could not access as it was steps but it was not a problem I could see everything from every angle . The gardens and fountains were impressive and we spent around 3 hours in total there taking photos and just enjoying the tranquility and scenery. There is a tea shop which I never got round to visiting but that is for my next trip ??
Transport & Parking
Car park has plenty of disabled parking. I have no idea about other forms of transport as this is in the middle of the countryside
Access
Going around there was a lot of rest points, seats to enjoy the views , theain ruins of the house have steps but that was to be expected . There is an audio tour available
Toilets
The toilet at the entrance that was accessible friendly was ok , clean and had everything needed just a little cramped . As it was a baby changing room also and space is a premium at sites like this it is understandable
Staff
Everyone who works here must have taken extra training in customer care because for me in the wheelchair it is wonderful when I get acknowledged and not my carer
Anything else you wish to tell us?
I had a fantastic day and can't wait to return soon for the autumn colours . It's a place that changes with the seasons and is so beautiful
