Drinks in the restaurant and visit to the food hall

This review is especially helpful for those who have or use the following: Walking Aid, Wheelchair, Mobility Scooter

Overview

We stopped here to get a drink in the restaurant and bar after visiting the food hall. Not many disabled parking spaces near the entrance , we had to park elsewhere in the large car park. The only issue was that the car park is a gravel one making it difficult for a wheelchair or someone with limited mobility and using either crutches or a walker. Once off the gravel the pathway is of solid stones. So no issues. Both the. Garden centre and food hall are accessible and there was space to get around in my wheelchair, although turning was a bit tight in some places in the food hall due to displays . But we managed as long as you were careful. Staff at the deli/ butchers counter very helpful. If your asked you could try a small sample of cheese if you weren’t sure you would like it. All the food for sale in the food hall looked very good. The garden plants area was well laid out and people were on hand to help if needed. After making our purchases in the food hall we headed to the restaurant and bar which again was on one level . Plenty of tables inside and outside with ample space for my wheelchair. Outside there is also a children’s play area. Although the food isn’t cheap it’s of a very good quality and there was certainly a good selection on the menu. Meals were definitely not small. Again staff were helpful. We would visit again when in the area.

Transport & Parking

2.5

Not. Many blue badge parking spaces and the car park is laid with a thick gravel. Not ideal for wheelchair, walker, or crutches and those with limited mobility, the wheelchair sank into gravel. Think they should consider a more solid surface in areas of the car park used by blue badge holders . And provide more spaces as this seemed a popular venue.

Access

4

Apart from the issues with the car park, the rest was good, it was level access for the food hall, garden shop, restaurant and bar. Space to get around with the wheelchair even if a little tight in places in the food hall. But still manageable with care.

Toilets

4

The accessible toilet had plenty of room , it also had baby changing table in there. There were grab rails by the toilet and the sink was at a lower level as was the hand drier and soap .

Staff

4

Staff were helpful helpful enough and were happy to help if asked.

Anything else you wish to tell us?

There were bottles containing hand sanitizer at the pay desk for the food hall and garden shop, plus at the entrance. And in the trance to the restaurant and on the bar.
