Our Red Cord Cards have arrived in Welsh!

    Croeso!

We have some exciting news to share from Euan's Guide HQ! As part of our mission to make the world more accessible, we are thrilled to announce that our Red Cord Cards are now available in Welsh.

This is a huge milestone for our Safer Toilets campaign. We want to ensure that our message of safety and inclusion reaches every community across Wales, from Cardiff to Caernarfon!

    Why Red Cord Cards matter

If you’ve ever visited an accessible loo, you might have noticed the red emergency cord tucked away, tied up, or even cut short. While it might look tidier to some, a tangled cord is useless in an emergency. If someone falls and can’t reach that cord, they can’t call for help.

That’s where our Red Cord Cards come in. It's a simple, easy-to-read card that attaches to the cord, to gently remind everyone why it needs to hang freely all the way to the floor.

    Bringing the campaign to Wales

With over 200,000 Red Cord Cards already out in the world, we knew it was time to make sure our friends in Wales had a version that felt like home. In a country where bilingual signs are the gold standard, providing these cards in Welsh helps businesses and public spaces stay truly accessible for everyone.

Our Co-Founder, Kiki MacDonald, said it best:

“The Red Cord Card is such a simple tool, but it has the potential to save lives. By launching the cards in Welsh, we are ensuring that the message of safety is available to everyone.”

We were thrilled to collaborate with Cerys Davage, a Welsh disability advocate, on social media to share the news. Cerys said:

"I've heard some awful stories of disabled people falling in accessible bathrooms and just lying there for hours because they can't reach the emergency cord to ask for help. I'm genuinely passionate about ensuring disabled people's safety. I'm extremely passionate about accessibility and you should be too so I really recommend you check out Euan's Guide for these cards. I'm really excited that this campaign is now bilingual."

    The power of our community

This campaign has truly taken on a life of its own online! We love seeing your "rescue" photos and videos on social media, showing cords you’ve untied and cards you’ve tucked into place. But beyond the likes and shares, there is a very real human impact. One of our supporters shared a scary experience: "I almost died having a life-threatening epilepsy episode, and the cord was tied up... These cards would be so useful."

Hearing stories like this is exactly why we do what we do. We want to make sure accessible loos are as safe as possible.

    How you can help

Whether you are an individual who wants to carry a few cards in your bag for your next trip out, or a business owner looking to make your facilities safer, we’ve got you covered!
