    February review roundup

    A photo of a pizza

In this month's February review Roundup, we have some exciting reviews to share with you from every day, essential visits to places to enjoy lunch and a cup of coffee with friends. We would like to say thank you to everyone who has taken the time to write a review, you are helping us in our mission to make the world a more accessible place.

    Essential places to visit

JaxM4929 kicked off their reviewing journey with a brilliant first review of St John & St Elizabeth Hospital. They shared a really positive experience overall, while also pointing out that accessible parking nearby can be difficult to find. Reviews like this are so valuable. Hospitals, GP surgeries, and supermarkets are places disabled people need to access regularly, and your insights help others feel more confident about visiting. Thank you for getting involved, and we can’t wait to see where you explore next!

    Places to eat

IJ has us dreaming of pizza with their glowing recommendation of Paesano Pizza. If you’re after traditional Italian pizza, this sounds like the place to go. Their review also highlights something really helpful to know in advance: the accessible entrance is through a separate doorway next to the main restaurant. Little details like this make such a huge difference when planning a visit.

    Shopping and socialising

DeminaaiTrixx has been busy exploring the Menkind store in St David’s Shopping Centre, Cardiff. Their review paints a great picture of a small but accessible shop, with staff who go above and beyond to help - even offering to move items to make browsing easier. They also included handy public transport information, which is always appreciated by anyone planning a trip.

We also heard from new reviewer GrahamD, who visited Norton House Hotel and Spa for lunch with friends. He shared some challenges with the temporary ramp provided at the entrance, but also highlighted how helpful and welcoming the staff were throughout the visit. Honest reviews like this celebrating what went well while pointing out what could be done better, helps venues understand what works and what doesn’t, and other disabled people know what to expect.

Another new reviewer this month is EqualFootingPortywho visited a small Edinburgh shop called Root Down. The shop may be compact, but the shopkeeper’s attitude is very welcoming and positive. They have made thoughtful adjustments, like adding a doorbell outside so disabled customers can request assistance. Whether you review as an individual or as part of a group, your experiences help others feel more connected and informed, and we’re delighted to welcome EqualFootingPorty to our community.

Wheeler_Dax also shared a review of Tiffin Coffee. They describe it as a great alternative to nearby cafés, with good food, good coffee, and prices that won’t break the bank. The accessible counter and accessible toilet inside the café make everyday visits much easier.

    Review of the month

This month’s Review of the Month goes to EqualFootingPorty for their brilliant review of Root Down in Portobello! It’s always inspiring to hear about businesses that make small, meaningful changes to improve accessibility -reviews like this highlight the positive impact that simple adjustments and helpful attitudes have o disabled people. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we are excited to read your next review!

A picture paints a thousand words

We love reading your reviews in whatever form you choose to share them. One thing that can make a huge difference is including a photograph. A quick picture of an entrance, a ramp, or an accessible toilet can give readers a much clearer idea of what to expect. Sometimes that one image is all someone needs to feel confident about visiting somewhere new.

    Calling all venues and businesses

If you’re a venue owner or manager, don’t forget that you can list your venue on our website and add details about your accessibility. It helps your venue become more visible to the tens of thousands of disabled people who use our site every day. It’s completely free and only takes a few minutes - a small step that can make a big difference.

A huge thank you to everyone who has shared their experiences of disabled access this month.
