    November review roundup

    A hotel in the sunshine

In this month’s November roundup we have a fantastic selection of reviews for you to enjoy, with lots of winter sun accommodation being recommended! We would like to say a huge thank you to all of our volunteers who have taken the time to submit reviews and share their experiences.

    Places to stay

Aiker submitted their first review on Euan’s Guide. They visited Avimore youth Hostel while travelling and found it surprisingly accessible, mentioning the accessibility of the rooms and the bathrooms within the accommodation. There is also a ramped entrance, and wider doorways which make it easier to move around. Thank you very much for sharing your first review on our brand new website!

Drouthy went on holiday to Bardolino and stayed in the Parc Hotel Gritti. Moving around the hotel was easy and simple to do if you are a mobility aid user. This hotel also seems like it would be a great place to stay as it is close to the town and has easy transport links to explore other areas.

WheelyP recently visited Hotel Riu Palace Santa Maria. He describes the hotel as “the most accessible all inclusive hotel” he has ever seen. The review also includes loads of great photos which helps to give other reviewers an idea of what to expect before visiting. Thank you very much for your review and we really hope you can visit again sometime soon!

Melvinhurley recently visited the Campanile Hotel Bayeux in France. He was pleasantly surprised by the accessibility of the hotel and was so impressed that he plans to return in the future. The review mentions the accessibility of the room itself, and also the consideration shown by hotel staff in catering for special dietary requirements. It is always great to hear about positive experiences from reviewers.

    Places to eat

Alanm had a lovely meal at Little Picardy restaurant next to the Edinburgh Playhouse theatre. The review gives details of the downstairs part of the restaurant, which is the only part which is accessible. Alan recommends trying the restaurant for a pre-theatre meal.

    Things to do

Demonaaitrixx is off to a flying start this month on Euan’s Guide She has written an impressive twenty-one reviews in November! One review that particularly caught our attention was Swansea railway station From first class Customer service from Train and station staff to being upgraded to first class, train travel the whole experience was one not to be forgotten. The staff both on the train and in stations were very helpful and made sure that everything went to plan and Demonaaitrixx was supported and looked after from start to finish. It is always fantastic to hear the real difference that caring customer service makes! Thank you so much for all your reviews of different areas which are genuinely honest and helpful access information.

Euan’s Guide Review Coordinator Pat went to visit the GMAC Arts studio in 103 Trongate in Glasgow. Pat attended the Scottish Queer International Film Festival where they were warmly welcomed by staff and enjoyed seeing some short films they comment on, particularly on being made to feel welcome by staff and the venue being extremely accessible. Pat has included some very clear photographs as part of the review to show the accessibility and the layout of the venue.

    Pat highly recommends a visit!

Meandmuminawheelchair visited Ashton Garden Centre in Lancaster. They enjoyed the visit and gave an overall positive review. They enjoyed lunch at the garden centre and found the accessible toilet very convenient with grab rails and plenty of space to move around.

Our Review of the month goes to Aviemore Youth Hostel by Atiker. This review is a reminder that even though places might not appear to be accessible at first, you might be pleasantly surprised if you go and explore.
