First Class experience from start to finish

I am a disabled person and a carer or friend of a disabled person and a general supporter of disabled access. I have experience of challenges around: a hidden impairment, accessing toilets, dexterity or coordination and moving around.

From entering the station in Swansea City Centre to leaving the station in Cardiff Central, everything was top notch! The train staff were on top-form from the minute I arrived. I had assistance as soon as I approached the platform entrance, the gates were opened for me to go straight through and a female member of staff was waiting to take me to the First Class carriage where the wheelchair section was located on the train. I only had a standard class ticket, however this was instantly upgraded to First Class and all staff aboard the train treated me as such. We were given complimentary soft and hot drinks and also offered snacks to go with them. They regularly spoke with me to ensure I had everything that I needed.

The entrance to the station is completely step free and the whole station is single-level. There is plenty of seating around, accessibility bathrooms and plenty of ramps to board the trains.

I travelled to this place by train
I used another train to arrive at Swansea train station, however there is ample parking on-street and in the attached multi-story carpark.

Accessible Toilets
Excellent
The disabled bathroom facilities at Swansea Train Station are probably the best I have ever used. They are accessed with a RADAR key and are very easy to lock behind you. The bathroom itself is very, very large and has a toilet with an easy-flush system, grab rails around pretty much every inch of the room, a wide, low level sink, an adult-size changing bench with ceiling hoist and enough space to park a large car inside, so maneouverability is a non-issue.
